Tyreek Hill says his mom called him like there was an ‘emergency’ before he realized she was talking about TikTok ban

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill took to X on Sunday morning and explained that he got a call from his mother that seemed as if there was an emergency before he realized she was merely calling him about TikTok being banned in the United States

The ban seemingly lasted for a very short time, as users in the U.S. have reported being able to use the platform once again as of Sunday.

TikTok released a statement on Sunday about being “in the process of restoring service.” The company thanked President-elect Donald Trump for “providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers.”

“In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service,” the company announced in the statement. “We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive. It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution

 

It’s worth mentioning that Hill has his very own TikTok account with quite a large following. He has well over three million followers on the platform, though he hasn’t uploaded a new post since December of 2024. TikTok has become extremely popular in recent years, which has made the prospect of a U.S. ban a very big story.

Hill should have more time to create and upload his own TikToks in the coming months now that the Dolphins’ season is over. Miami missed out on the playoffs for the first time with Hill on the roster after the team finished the 2024 regular season with a record of 8-9.
