The University of Oklahoma has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art softball stadium, Love’s Field, which will serve as the new home for the Oklahoma Sooners softball team. This project is part of the university’s capital improvements master plan, which aims to upgrade various athletic facilities across campus

Key Features of Love’s Field

Seating Capacity: The stadium will have a seating capacity of 4,200 fans, making it the largest on-campus softball facility in the country. This is a significant increase from the original plan of 3,000 seats, driven by high demand for OU softball tickets.

Indoor Training Center: A 10,669-square-foot indoor training center will provide the team with a world-class practice facility, enhancing their training and performance.

Team Spaces: The stadium will feature several team spaces, including a locker room, training room, meeting room, equipment room, and lounge. A recognition area will showcase national championships, All-Americans, and other outstanding accomplishments.

Concessions and Amenities: Love’s Field will offer a range of concessions, including specialty vendors like Taste of Africa, HTeaO, and Psycho Tacos. The stadium will also feature cashless transactions for food, beverages, and retail sales

Construction and Budget

Budget: The total budget for the project is $42 million, with $28 million already raised from over 800 donors. The Love family, owners of Love’s Travel Stops, donated $12 million toward the project and was awarded the naming rights.

Construction Timeline: Groundbreaking for the project began in 2022, with the stadium opening in time for the 2024 season ⁴ ¹.
