Colorado Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar Gives Back to the Community
Denver, Colorado – In a heartwarming display of generosity, Colorado Avalanche Ice Hockey Head Coach Jared Bednar and his non-profit organization, Inner Sole, donated over 100 pairs of sneakers and school bags to children in Denver, Colorado. The recipients included kids from the Collegiate Academy of Colorado after-school program.
Bednar, who has been an inspiration to many young athletes, drew from his own childhood experiences to fuel his passion for giving back. “Growing up, a new pair of sneakers was a game-changer for me,” he reflected. “It wasn’t just about having a new pair of shoes; it was about feeling confident, feeling seen, and feeling like I belonged.”

Through Inner Sole, Bednar aims to provide that same sense of confidence and belonging to children who may not have the means to afford new sneakers and school supplies. The non-profit organization collects and distributes new and gently used sneakers and school bags to kids in need, promoting physical activity, self-esteem, and a sense of community.
The recent donation event was a testament to Bednar’s commitment to giving back. Over 100 pairs of sneakers and school bags were handed out to excited children, who beamed with joy as they tried on their new shoes and explored their new school supplies. The Collegiate Academy of Colorado after-school program, which provides a safe and supportive environment for kids to learn and grow, was grateful for the generous donation.
“Coach Bednar’s donation is more than just a pair of sneakers and a school bag,” said a spokesperson for the Collegiate Academy of Colorado. “It’s a reminder to our kids that they matter, that they’re seen, and that they’re deserving of kindness and compassion.”

Bednar’s philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. His dedication to empowering young people through sports and community service has earned him recognition as a leader both on and off the ice.
As the Colorado Avalanche continues to thrive under Bednar’s guidance, his commitment to giving back serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that sports can have on individuals and communities.
“We’re not just building a hockey team; we’re building a community,” Bednar said. “And it’s moments like these that remind me of the power of sports to bring people together and make a difference in the lives of others.”
The children who received the sneakers and school bags will undoubtedly remember the kindness and generosity of Coach Jared Bednar and Inner Sole. As they lace up their new shoes and head back to school with their new supplies, they’ll be reminded that they’re not just playing for themselves, but for the community that believes in them.
