MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins’ search for a quality backup quarterback will no longer include Skylar Thompson.
Thompson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, his agency announced Tuesday.
Thompson, 27, was a seventh-round pick from Kansas State in 2022, just ahead of the 49ers’ Brock Purdy.
Thompson played in 11 games for the Dolphins, with four starts, including a playoff loss at Buffalo as a rookie.
It became pretty clear Thompson did not have a future with Miami when he was leapfrogged by Tyler Huntley as No. 2 in the depth chart, behind Tua Tagovailoa.
